The Riddle

Who am I?

  • I am the giver and the taker of life
  • I cause good and make evil possible
  • Until you actually meet me, you may think you already know me
  • I’m not a virus, but I can cause sickness
  • Many people have died because of me
  • I’ve been received more than I’ve been given
  • I have no parents, but Faith and Hope are my siblings
  • Although I am blind myself, I’ve been known to show up at first sight

  1. Love! As a single guy, I haven’t been able to have the relationship-y love that i see many people have, but he love of my parents has been a huge blessing in my life. They love each other and they love me and my sisters, which has made such a big difference in everything i do 🙂 ❤

  2. I heard recently that love and respect are two things in the world you can never take, you can only give them. And I genuinely believe it, if you want them, they come naturally to people who give them willingly. Nice post 🙂

  3. Love, being the answer. I had the opportunity to KNOW unconditional LOVE with the blessing of my first child…unfortunately…in the midst of a bitter divorce. No matter what was said about her FATHER, she responded by what I DID, instead of what others (including her mother) said! My heart began to change….even towards her mother. I soon discovered, LOVE is a choice, not a feeling. Love LOVES no matter what, it’s not based on what one does or does not do! At the risk of a cliche’, GOD LOVES us…No matter how we “treat” HIM, and eventually the more we LOVE the more LOVE we will receive.

  4. Well I don’t think I came up with Love, and I am embarrassed to say what I thought, However the one thing that love has taught me it has no boundaries it fully accepts all of you without any equivocation.

    1. Hey, JMD…it’s a no judgment zone here at the “Quill.” Whatever you came up with is cool I’m sure. Your understanding of love seems to come from a place of experience. Thanks for gracing us with your insight.

  5. Love, Love is the way, the truth, and the life. Just a little funny for the riddle. Seriously, I’ve found that REAL love is really unconditional. Using children as an example, they will love a parent whether they shower them with hugs & kisses daily or abuse (physically/emotionally) them. As teens we tend to use the word LOVE too loosely, being guided by our emotions and what we physically see. But as an adult I’ve learned that love not always this FEELING of walking on clouds and everything coming up rosy. To understand and appreciate love, you’re definitely going to have to go through some kind of turmoil. How else would you know… when the going gets tough, whether or not you’d run or stay?? Anyway, love is a beautiful and the world would be a much better place if we all could spread a little more (unconditional) around.

  6. So talented BE.. Love this.. Love, such a loaded word.. And it would take all day to tell how it has changed my life, but I don’t have the time.. However, it has been given so freely (Jesus) to me, and I’m so thankful/grateful.. That I want to give it, just as it has been given.. So I am Now a Giver of what has been given to me…
    . Blessings!!!
